As a personal trainer, it's my job to motivate my clients to establish a steady routine at the gym. An excellent strategy for maintaining a good habit is to mix up the workouts weekly.
A variety of programs will prevent boredom at the gym and reduce the tendency to quit early. It's also more efficient to work out the entire body if the workouts are varied and cover numerous muscle groups during a weekly plan. For my time restricted clients, a diverse program that includes more compound exercises is very popular. Plus it's safer to train using mixed routines as it allows previous muscles groups worked time to recover after a workout. Over repetitive drills can significantly increase the chances of injury without adequate recovery. As a coach, I like to follow the training pyramid to make sure my clients cover Balance, flexibility, Strength & Power, Coordination and Timing.
